What is the role of a Freight Forwarder in eHBL?
A person who, on behalf of 1 or more owners,
importers, shippers, or consignees of goods, causes specified goods to be
transported by 1 or more carriers.
Note:
- There are bonded freight forwarders
and non-bonded freight forwarders.
- Only bonded freight forwarders can
submit consolidated electronic house bills (eHBs) and move cargo in bond.
- A non-bonded freight forwarder’s
movement ends where the bonded carrier’s CCN ends. Further movement will
require a re-manifest by a bonded carrier or freight forwarder.
- Freight forwarders cannot transport
goods into Canada but can transport goods inland, if bonded.
