Freight Status Notification

Message Function: To notify the ACE Air business entity(s) providing initial air shipment information and/or onward air carrier or cargo terminal operator (Deconsolidator /Container Freight Station operator participating in ACE Air) of an action taken by CBP or another government agency or, to notify CBP of the status of air shipments previously authorized for transfer (in-bond or within port).

**For US warehouse to receive status notification messages on air shipments going into their facility on release or transfer of the cargo. The warehouse cannot release the cargo out of the facility if there is a hold or customs inspection message on the shipment.

For warehouses operating in the US and receiving air cargo transferred to their facility on an airwaybill need to receive electronically from CBP electronic notification of the release or transfer of the cargo. In cases where there is a hold on the cargo or an inspection is required by CBP, the FSN message will indicate to the warehouse to hold the cargo and segregate it waiting for the inspection to take place by CBP. Participation by a warehouse in the Freight Status Notification System is under a larger CBP program known as Air AMS (Automated Manifest System) or ACE Air eManifest. A warehouse is identified by CBP under a Facilities Information and Resources Management System (FIRMS) code. The FSN Solution is available to the following warehouses:

CFS (Container Freight Station)
- No MPF (Merchandise Processing Fee) Charged by CBP
- No CBP Staff on Weekend
- CBP Inspection Time: 1-5 days
- Total Clearance Time: 1-5 days

ECCF (Express Consignment Carrier Facility)
- There is MPF (Merchandise Processing Fee) Charged by CBP
- CBP Staff available on Weekend
- CBP Inspection Time: 24 hours
- Total Clearance Time: 24 hours
