How to get carrier code?

  1. Forwarders/NVOCC’s must obtain a CBSA issued 8000 series carrier code (a four character code that begins with an 8). A Freight Forwarder/NVOCC can operate in Canada as a Bonded or non-Bonded Freight Forwarder.

 

Obtain a valid CBSA carrier code using application form Non-Bonded Freight Forwarder Code (including acceptable signature and complete vehicle listing) at https://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/forms-formulaires/bsf329-9-16.pdf with Company Ownership documents (photocopy) and email to carrier-cargo@cbsa.gc.ca.

 

For supporting documents being submitted from outside Canada:

      1. The supporting document must be translated into either English or French and certified as to the authenticity of translation by the certified translator.
      2. A copy of the original document (requiring translation) is to be notarized by a locally recognized lawyer or commissioner of oaths.
      3. The document in its original language and the certified translated copy must be submitted.
